Always Believing in the Lord's Enabling
“For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.” (Phil 2:13)
Project: This after school program will be a final product of the senior level class GT Independent Study: my exit level Texas Performance Standards Project.
Outreach Focus: Through creating a Bible-based after school program, the plan is to help children grades two through five learn about the saving powers of Jesus Christ while also helping them with life issues - issues such as their homework, home life, and relationship with others.
Description: A.B.L.E. is an after school program designed to help children with their homework while showing them the love of Jesus Christ. It will consist of two sessions lasting two weeks, and will include play time, a snack, homework help, and a Bible study.
Time Periods: The first session occur April 4, 2016, to April 15, 2016, on school days. The second session will occur April 18, 2016, to April 29, 2016, on school days. It will start right after school and run until 5:30.
Activities: The program will consist of play time, a snack, homework help, and a Bible study. The education director at Pinecrest Baptist Church will assist with the Bible study curriculum and the snacks will be donated by local churches and my economics class.
Staff Support: The volunteer base will consist of at least two adults everyday, one of which would be a Silsbee ISD staff member. The rest of the volunteers would consist of youth volunteers from the community.
Building: The Frank Robinson Building will serve as the facility from which the after school program is run. All the activities will take place in this building.
Transportation: The kids will be picked up from school and brought to the program building after school. Parents will pick up their child.
Sign Up: Children grades two through five can participate in one or both sessions; however, each session can have no more than fifteen children. Fill out and return the registration form to sign up. Children will be selected on a first come first served basis.
