1.) How did God call you to be a missionary?

He had an encounter with God that transformed his heart and mind. He was raised in the church, and was taught to live out his faith. However, it wasn't until he truly gave God his whole life that God started to move him in a direction of full-time ministry.

2.) How did you get from there to answering God's call?

As he began to read the Bible, pray and seek God’s personal will his life, he began to see that God wanted him in a service role and a role that God guides.

3.) What are some missions you have done?

He has been a church planter overseas in India, inner-city missions in Waco, TX, Chicago, IL, and Galveston, TX. In India, he did leadership training, bible studies, and first aid training for nomadic people groups. Inner city ministry has looked different in different places. He has done kids ministry in the projects, job training for ex-felons and homeless, to youth and children tutoring to outreach.

4.) How has your mission work evolved over the years?

God is always at work in and through us. Each year He reveals new and exciting things to work on and how to accomplish his tasks for us. The closer we get to God (prayer, reading the Bible, and Christian Community) the more He will shift and grow our relationship with Him. As we grow, our ministry grows.

5.) How did you know it was time to move on to the next stage in your life?

God has been very direct in the way He has given him direction. He has “heard” God speak with specific places he wanted us go move, for instance “Galveston is the Place”. He has had dreams that directed him to India and so on. We have to be in relationship with God to better understand where he wants us to be.

6.) If you knew then what you know now, what would you do differently?

He would slow things down. Early in ministry (and still today) he wanted things to move much faster. However, the faster we go the more complicated things get. Be patient and wait on the Lord!

7.) What kind of education do you have that equips you to be a missionary?

He went to seminary, that helped him learn some solid theology. God will equip everyone with what they need.

8.) What kind of gifts has God given you to equip you?

Relationships - the ability to build relationships with people from all walks of life. With that, God has also helped him feel comfortable in cross-cultural communities. Leadership is another gift God has given him.
9.) Who did God put in your life to equip you?

An incredible wife who loves and supports him. Lots of great friends and mentors who encourage and “sharpen” him to be better and get better in his walk with God and with others.

10.) What are some needs that you see?

More churches teaching others to love the poor and marginalized. True discipleship, smaller groups being taught life and how to live in daily circumstances.

11.) What are some resources or contacts you would recommend to me?

Chalmers institute, When Helping Hurts, ccda.org, Missionwaco.org

12.) What would you do if you were taking this course?

Dig deep and seek God’s purpose for his life. Ask questions about what truly makes your heart tick and drives you. And HAVE A BLAST! God has created us to have fun.

13.) Would you mind helping me in the future?

Not at all.
