Theology Of
Missions
1st Week
The fourth six weeks will be a busy six weeks because of all the final planning and execution required to launch the after school program. I have decided to name the program A.B.L.E. standing for Always Believing In The Lord's Enabling and use that as a theme for the Bible study. I also followed up with the superintendent in order to be able to use the Frank Robinson Building on MLK street. His secretary, Karen Powell, told me to fill out a building registration form and write a paper explaining the program.
2nd Week
After spending the weekend filling out the building registration form, I submitted it to Karen Powell so it can be processed. I also did some restructuring on the after school program - instead of one big session, it will be two week sessions held twice. I had a meeting with Jo Lynn Hawk to talk about how to sign up volunteers, and we decided to have a sign up sheet with a list of rules they can sign at a volunteer training day. I also met with Mrs. Helton and she agreed that I need a list of rules. She is making me a list of rules from a Silsbee ISD standpoint that I can add it to my own list. In addition to the list of rules, Mrs. Helton is helping me draft forms for volunteers and attendees to fill out.
3rd Week
This week, I worked on registration forms for volunteers and children attending the program. I also emailed the principles of Read Turrentine and Laura Reeves in order to get them involved with the program. I plan to meet with them sometime next week to discuss the project because they have more experience with the kids that will be attending.
4th Week
The principal of Read Turrentine emailed me back and informed me that I cannot get her help until I have secured a building. Therefore, this week, I focused on securing the Frank Robinson building. I contacted Mr. Bain and Mrs. Helton to check on the status of the building request form. Mr. Bain emailed me back and indicated that there might be an insurance problem that we need to explore. I will wait on more information this weekend and come up with a plan next week.
5th Week
I received an email from Mrs. Helton over the weekend stating that I could not use Silsbee ISD's insurance. After considering the idea of moving the after school program to First Baptist, I decided to try to have the insurance donated by a local insurance agent. I contacted my former teacher, Mrs. Donalson, because she has a family friend who is an insurance agent and could possible help. She was very helpful a set up a meeting for both of us early next week. However, later this week, I found out that I could use Silsbee ISD's insurance. Although I spent the week going through the process of having insurance donated that I did not ultimately need, the whole process helped me to understand how insurance works when dealing with an after school program.
6th Week
This week was spent finalizing all the registration forms in order to be prepared to send them out next week. After I finished the forms, Mr. Bain encountered a problem with sending out the forms through the school district, so I met with him about the project on Friday. I left copies of the forms for Mr. Bain to review and edit, and he will contact me next week about the forms.
